Shakeel Shahzad
CEO, Shakeel Shahzad Productions
Shakeel started his career as a photographer in 1990 when he was just 14. Since then, he has worked as a photographer, director, director of photography, and producer for numerous national and international projects over the years. This includes him being chosen as one of the 10 photographer and videographers from all over Pakistan to go on the Masaai Mara Safari tour organized by Nikon in 2017 in Kenya.

Kenya is where Shakeel shot his famous ‘Kenyan Sunrises’ video, a piece of art that became the first video by a Pakistani creator to be shared on and appreciated by all regional Nikon social media accounts worldwide.

Nikon’s legendarily amazing dynamic range made the cinematography look perfect and the massive range of lens options available made getting every type of shot a pleasure. I took advantage of Nikon’s signature DX format in full-frame mode to properly showcase the vast vistas of the Masaai Mara Jungle.

Travelogue

Shakeel’s travelogue, shot in New York City, covered the people, architecture, and beauty of the famous city.
Shakeel’s Experience on this project:
I used Nikon Z for this project and the camera’s excellent result in low-light conditions made it very easy to produce ultra-quality street videography content. As I was shooting live locations and scenarios on-the-go, the ability to switch modes and settings through the convenient action buttons made it a breeze.

Capture Tomorrow
Action

Another project of his for Nikon was shot at the Thar Jeep Rally and the resulting video ‘Capture Tomorrow’ became Nikon Pakistan’s lead promotional video for the Z series of cameras. Recording of the fast-paced action.

This event was all very fast-paced action which is why Nikon’s in-camera slow-motion and the superior ability to quickfollow focus helped me create a video that captures the action and adrenaline of the event sublimely.

Documentary Project

Another notable project Shakeel directed and produced was a documentary for the International Labour Organization and United Nations Development Program, documenting the success and achievements of ILO and UNDP projects all over Pakistan. This documentary was shown at multiple international UNDP conferences and was praised worldwide for its vision and content.
Shakeel’s Experience on this project:
This project allowed me to take full advantage of Nikon’s amazing in-camera timelapse to capture some of the most beautiful views all over Pakistan. The extremely convenient audio recording controls made recording the dozens of interviews a seamless experience.

Eco Star BTS
Documentary Project

Shakeel’s commercial work also includes a BTS shot for Eco Star featuring famous Pakistani actor Fahad Mustafa.
Shakeel’s Experience on this project:
The aim for this project was to provide a cinematic look and feel, something that Nikon DSLRs are already well-known for. A combination of the awesome dynamic range and Nikon’s exceptional color science delivered outstanding results.

In addition to these specific projects, Shakeel has created content for countless international and local mega organizations including WAPDA, PepsiCo, Descon Engineering, KFC, Pakistan Academy of Letters, Control Union China, Strategia Solutions USA, City Sightseeing Dubai, and many more. Shakeel has also always been known to be a big proponent of spreading the knowledge he has gained in years, for which he has led many classes, workshops, and talks for Nikon Pakistan and other notable organizations at the most esteemed universities in Pakistan.
